EU to halt intro of new data requirements for AIR-2 agchems
The European Commission is to remove the introduction of new, more stringent, data requirements for the renewal of certain agrochemical product approvals. The change applies to products based on active ingredients that are in the second round of the EU renewal programme, called AIR-2. Currently, older data requirements apply to product renewal applications submitted before December 31st 2015, with the new requirements applying to submissions after that date. The Commission had originally expected that AIR-2 would be largely completed this year and that companies would be able to meet the deadline. However, its schedule has been undermined by ongoing delays in the renewal programme. Therefore, it proposes that the old data requirements should continue to apply to all AIR-2 product renewals, regardless of when the application is submitted.
