Monsanto funds more pest control research
Monsanto is to award research grants of up to $250,000 per year for three years to six recipients as part of its insect management knowledge programme. The scheme was launched in 2013 to fund research on corn rootworm (Diabrotica spp) resistance and expanded last year to wider insect pest management. The programme covers insects that are economically damaging to any US row crop. The latest research to be funded covers insect threats such as whiteflies, soybean aphids and corn earworms, Monsanto notes.
