EU confirms approval of Monsanto's GM soybeans

The European Commission has confirmed its approval of Monsanto's genetically modified glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 Yield (MON89788) soybean line for import, processing and use in food and feed in the EU. The Commission had to rubber-stamp its own proposal for approval after EU member states failed to agree on whether to accept or reject the soybean line ( Agrow No 557, p 8).
